Omnitracs reported that 23% of all crashes occur when drivers are traveling too fast for weather conditions. Weather conditions can be a factor year-round for motorists. Adjusting your speed and following distance from other motorist’s vehicles during inclement weather can help to prevent an accident.  If road condition become unsafe the FMCSR states a commercial driver should exit the roadway and discontinue operation until the weather conditions improve and it is safe again for travel.  If you are under load, notify dispatch that you have had to stop due to weather conditions and they will adjust the shipment times.
