Commercial motor vehicles tend to swing wide when making a right turn. Noncommercial drivers are unfamiliar with this concept and enter into the right lane of travel beside the CMV that has been opened up. As the commercial driver completes the turn contact is made between the two vehicles. Industry experts refer to this type of accident as a right-hand squeeze. Safety experts recommend to avoid a right hand squeeze accident from happening, keep the rear of your vehicle blocking the right lane which prevents the space from opening up for another motorist to enter into and result in an accident.
