Temperatures will be dropping throughout this week. Areas will be impacted as far south as the Gulf coast next week by arctic air being drawn out of Canada. Hypothermia can occur due to prolonged exposure to cold temperatures. Safety experts recommend dressing in warm layers, removing wet clothing and replacing them with dry items. Symptoms of hypothermia include shivering, slurred speech, confusion, blue lips or skin, slowed breathing and loss of coordination. If someone is experiencing these symptoms, it could result in a medical emergency.
