Poor weather conditions result in heavy traffic with other vehicles tailgating or ending up in a commercial driver’s blind spot. Commercial drivers should be aware of blind spots and use caution when switching lanes in heavy traffic. Safety experts recommend signaling intentions, such as changing lanes or turning, well in advance so other drivers have enough time to react. Safety experts also recommend wiping residue and snow from headlights, taillights, signal lights and brake lights each time the vehicle stops. Residue buildup can result in another motorist failing to recognize a vehicle is stopping or changing lanes.
