The National Weather Service is warning of a widespread freezing rain event from the Midwest across the lower peninsula of Michigan and into the mid-Atlantic states Wednesday, Feb. 5. The storm will travel into the southern New England area on Thursday. In the winter storm watch issued for Wednesday, the weather service said “roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will likely become slick and hazardous.” A light glaze of ice can create treacherous driving conditions on bridges, highways and ramps in a matter of seconds. If travel conditions become unsafe, FMCSR states you must exit the roadway and only continue travel when road conditions improve and become safe for travel.
