Today, we’ll review the HOS BASIC. 

HOS Compliance BASIC is defined as operation of CMVs by drivers who are ill, fatigued, or in noncompliance with the HOS regulations. This BASIC includes violations of regulations pertaining to records of duty status (RODS) as they relate to HOS requirements and the management of CMV driver fatigue.

To avoid violations of the HOS BASIC, please remember that if two commercial drivers are present, they should confirm the record of duty has been switched to the correct driver who is driving. For form and manner violations, review the log and make sure all required fields are populated. And lastly, remember to certify your record of duty status each day.
